Feng Shui of Guilin City

Guilin city situated in China's southern Guangxi province, is surrounded by green farmland spiked by limestone karst hills, through which the Li River meanders.

In the heart of Guilin, there is a an opulent complex of Jingjiang Princes' City, or Jingjiang Palace, which has a longer history than Beijing's Forbidden City. It was built in the 14th century for the nephew of the emperor.

Since then, it is regarded that the Dragon Cave of Guilin is located here. Over the coming hundreds of years, the city was indeed built and developed around this Palace.

The palace was built sitting the Solitary Beauty Peak (Duxiu Feng), a 216-meter-tall limestone outcrop, and facing 187 degrees to the South. Two rivers surrounds the palace forming a circle with distant hills in all three sides. It is a perfect Feng Shui location.

The palace is facing Zi (187 degrees), in 2004-2023 (Period 8 in flying star feng shui), the star number 8 (timely star) comes to the facing direction, the star number 9 (also a good one) comes to the sitting direction. Such arrangement is extremely favourable for Guilin city. Interesting though, the Palace was renovated and open to the public in 2003, just before entering Period 8. It marked the bloom of the tourism of Guilin: the number of tourists in millions who throng the city has been rising every year.

Extending the line of facing direction, we saw the fortune Qi entered the highway G321. On the other side, the Li River also carries the Qi flowing south. These two lines of energy meet at Yangshuo, a small town but in the last decade has become one of the main tourist attractions in China. The Feng Shui of this small town is amazing, which I will discuss in a separate article.
